제 첫 번째 사진집 South Korea: Memories of the Heart가 캐나다 기업 Scotia Waterous의 후원으로 발간되었습니다. Scotia Waterous는 매년 한 명의 사진가를 선정해서 사진집을 출간하는데 제가 그 18번째가 되었네요. 지난 반년 동안 캐나다에 있는 큐레이터와 주고받았던 수백 통의 이메일이 주마등처럼 스쳐 지나갑니다. 비매품인 제 사진집은 Scotia Waterous의 각국 사무실 외에 캐나다 국립 도서관과 국립 미술관, 미국 텍사스 대학과 애리조나 주립 대학 등에 소장됩니다. 이 사진집이 저의 시각으로 바라봤던 한국의 참모습을 세계에 알릴 수 있는 계기가 되면 좋겠습니다.
My first photographic book South Korea: Memoreis of the Heart was published in Canada. It is the 18th in the Scotia Waterous series of books. Over the last 18 years, Scotia Waterous has helped develop the careers of photographers from around the world by presenting their work in finely crafted books to a broader audience. These volumes, now a photographic legacy, reside in prestigious collections such as the National Library of Canada and the National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa, and the Harry Ransom Collection at the University of Texas, Austin, and Arizona State University, Temple.
Scotia Waterous proudly presents this photographic series by SeongJoon Cho. We feel South Korea: Memoreis of the Heart offers an important glimpse into a fascinating and rich culture.
